Adding a Datasource

When you first sign up with the Data X-Ray, you will be presented with the screen below. Click the pulsating blue button "Add Datasource" to get started.

You will have a choice of several different datasource types that you can connect depending on the datasources that are important to you. 

We'll connect a Google Drive account in this tutorial. Clicking on the Google Drive datasource in the add datasource page will bring up a couple of choices that you can select in the tabs: Google Drive and GSuite. Google Drive is for connecting single Google Drive accounts and GSuite is for connecting many GSuite accounts (note: you must be the GSuite admin for the GSuite account and install an application from the Google store.)

Simply click the "Add Drive" button and authenticate your account in the next screen and the Data X-Ray will automatically integrate the Google Drive account you chose.

Any datasource that you add is subsequently viewable by clicking the "Datasources" tab in the navbar at the top of the screen.

Scanning a Datasource

Scanning a datasource is even easier than connecting a datasource. Ohalo provides several models out of the box that get you most of the way there for common use cases like identifying general types of Personal Data for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance.

Click the "Scan Now" button as below and you will automatically start scanning. By default, the Data X-Ray will scan with our Personal Data (English) classifier model.

Depending on the amount of data you have in the datasource you are scanning, scans can take anywhere between 20 seconds to 2 hours. Don't worry though: once the scan is finished, you will receive an email with the results and will be able to click a link in the email to deep dive on the results within the app.
